Have you eaten celeriac? It tastes like celery but has a globe root and does not need to be blanched. It can be stored or left in the ground when mature and will keep for a long time. Sow seeds in a box nearly filled with compost. Cover the seed lightly, firm the soil and moisten with tepid water. Cover the box with glass and brown paper and place in warmth. Check regularly, turning and wiping the glass and remove the covering when seed has germinated. Prick seedlings into pots when small and then plant out in May and June.
Feed lawns with a fertiliser and weedkiller combined. For persistent weeds use weedkiller on a paint brush and apply directly.
Protect strawberries from late frost.
Put up the support poles or strings for runner beans.
