On good days, start applying preservative to wooden fences and structures. Do not use creosote on parts where plants come into contact.

Clear out gutters and check drains for blockages.

If needed do some digging to allow winter frosts to break up the soil.

Where fruit trees are pushing up suckers, dig down to the root and cut off the sucker at root level.
