Bob Dylan - Modern Times

Not all of them might like him but almost certainly, all DJs will acknowledge Bob Dylan as one of the most influential babyboomer rock and pop performers. At….wait for it ….65 years old he produced a new album released in August 2006. It was written about as one of his best ever. He keeps producing the right stuff. In 2001 he won the Best Contemporary Folk Album in the Grammy Awards with Love and Theft. Dylan’s latest album is seen as the third in a trilogy of outstanding work beginning with Time out of Mind which was followed by Love and Theft. The album Modern Times carries some already admired tracks, listen to Working Man’s Blues and Ain’t Walking Just Talking. In June/July 2006 he toured Britain and we will try to keep you in touch with his future appearances.

Incidentally………… the trend for singers and songwriters to refer to other performers in their songs carries on. Babyboomers will remember that The Who included the name of Bobby Dylan in their song The Seeker. Dylan himself has done this several times, the latest being a reference to Alicia Keys on his new album.

Dylan fans in the UK will be delighted to learn of the Cambridge Bob Dylan Society. They are are a great source of information and pictures. They meet at The Unicorn in Trumpington, Cambridge.
